How old is the baby?

Caring for an infant is the most exhausting job in the world, trust me.

Add on to that, a woman usually is trying to lose all the extra baby weight gained and the stretch marks, etc.

No fun!!

Or perhaps she is going through Post-Partum Depression.

Have you thought about that?

If she wanted to have sex, the baby wouldn't be a problem. She'd figure out a way to have sex with you. The hard sells aren't attractive, but the foot rubs aren't going to do shit.

First step is getting her to admit that she doesn't want to have sex with you. Second step is getting her to acknowledge that it's a problem. After that, you can at least try to put together a plan to fix the problem.

But, if it's the first six months and she's breast feeding, just forget it. Leave her alone.

THAT is NOT a reason. What is the reason she gave you?

If you are demanding sex, it will be a turnoff.
My DH let me set the pace and never once pressured me. I wanted sex early on, but I had an episiotomy that didn't heal right and sex was painful for over a year. It took a lot of patience on his part and a willingness to stop when I couldn't bear the pain anymore. You have to listen to her and go with the flow.

Is she afraid of getting pregnant again?

Have you tried being physically affectionate without a hard sell? Just offering a non-sexual backrub or foot rub?

Sometimes, after you have a baby and BF, you feel touched out. It takes a while to see your body as your own and not just existing to satisfy the needs of others.

It took me until I quit nursing (16 mo) to get my sex drive back and I had a stronger libido than my husband pre-baby.

How old is the baby?

I'm a single mom, and I can't remember having much sexual desire for awhile after I had my kid. Luckily for me, I was single and didn't have to think about anyone else's sex drive during that time.

So if it's still early days, she may just be really REALLY tired all the time. If she's breast-feeding, she might be in an "I'm a cow, not a woman" phase and just not feeling it. It can be really hard to switch from "mom" to "not mom" at times.

If it's been more than six months and the kid sleeps through the night and you're generally helpful with the kid and around the house.... well, I think you have a pretty good case for putting sex back into the mix.
