Drinking tea after dinner helps. I like to add Flavored Stevia drops which helps with my sweet tooth.

Bigelow Eggnog tea and lemon tea are other good ones that don't need sugar. Or apple cinnamon tea.

What about a mug of sugar free hot chocolate or cider? You can get your sweet fix for 50 calories and since it's hot, it'll take longer to consume it.

When you figure it out, OP, please post again because I am exactly the same way. Exactly.

Are you eating enough calories at breakfast/lunch?

Are you hiding from something? Procrastinating?

OP, drinking water is an excellent suggestion. Try hot decaf coffee too.
Food journals are helpful.
Breathe through the hunger and cravings and try to visualize how good you'll feel about yourself when you've resisted temptation.
Can you set up a goal and rewards system?

I started out eating the whole bar, then each night I stepped it down by eating all but one square, then all but two squares, etc. I told myself that just the taste of good quality chocolate was satisfying and I did not need the whole bar.

Now just one square is fine. Everyone is different, but might be a strategy to try.

Even one square would keep me up all night.

Save some calories for a protein bar or drink after dinner.

When you get home, give your wallet to your spouse and ask that it not be returned until morning. Also, after dinner, change clothes into bedtime clothes that you wouldn't leave the house in. If you feel hungry after dinner, drink a tall 16 oz glass of water. Often people mistake thirst for hunger. You want to make it very inconvenient to be able to go back out to buy anything else to eat.

It's so frustrating. I packed an excellent breakfast and lunch for work - full of protein and good fats, low in sugar and carbs. Planned out a good dinner. Ate said dinner. Was well within my caloric goal for the day. And then went out and bought a pint of Ben and Jerry's and ate half of it.

Why do I do this? How do I stop doing this? It's like my willpower is so strong until 8pm and then all bets are off.
