I so miss Colonel Brooks and their large parking lot...

Eh-- don't listen to PP who doesn't know the neighborhood-- there are lots of Brooklandites on the list serve.

Other options are:

Brookland's Finest opened two weeks ago and is standard delicious American far.

Smiths' Public Trust opened this week and has great early reviews.

Little Rickey's just converted to a "southern" menu and reviews are mixed, but the scene is great.

Many more casual options, &Pizza, ethopian at Askale, vegan at Brookland Café.

I don't know this area but the WaPo's GOG has a nifty feature to search by metro, e.g.:

A friend and I are going to a performance at Dance Place on 8th St NE in Brookland near CUA Friday night. We'd like to get some dinner first. Any recommendations? We're not at all familiar with the neighborhood, but I know tons of new places have opened in that area lately. We thought about the pizza place Menomale, but it looks a little too far away. We'll be on foot and taking Metro.

TIA!
