the key is to blend the veggies (i do spinach alot) with the liquid first, so they disappear and become smooth, then add the fruit. OJ, banana, honey will all sweeten things up.

I put 1-2 tbsp of frozen orange juice concentrate: that will mask almost anything!

It really helps the texture if you microwave the spinach for a minute or two before adding to smoothie. I also find that mango is the best at disguising the flavor. Here's what I use: banana, mango, spinach, milk, peach flavored Greek yogurt.

Every morning, more or less I make for the kids:

banana
calcium OJ (DS doesn't drink milk)
mixture of strawberry, raspberry, blueberry and blackberry from Trader Joes
frozen spinach or frozen kale
scoop of vanilla protein powder
ice

the color is purple, or pink purple if I throw in extra raspberries. I will sometimes make it with unsweetened coconut milk instead of OJ.

My older one will drink a green smoothie on occasion: this is one that goes down easy:
1/2 banana
frozen pineapple
spinach or other greens
splash of coconut milk and ice

Vitamix blends everything VERY smooth.

Banana makes everything taste sweet. It's a really powerful ingredient, actually. Add a few bananas and he won't taste the spinach or kale.

For color, beets turn everything pink. Even just the beet stalks, I think. And they're surprisingly sweet when blended. (Just beware that their juice can stain and it can turn pee pinkish!)

+1 on the covered cup. Take and Toss cups are great for this since they're already colored. Put it in a red cup with a red lid!

Almond milk helps and makes a creamy texture. Freeze sliced bananas, a handful of berries a handful of spinach and a half avocado. I also freeze them into Popsicles which the kids love and sometimes add protein powder.

Covered cup is a great idea - thanks!

My picky DD is required to drink green smoothie M-F. The right balance of spinach vs fruit is important, as is the texture. The Nutribullet (magic bullet? the ~$100 one) makes a much better texture than our regular blender. DH has made some that are too watery and tasteless, and she won't drink those, either.

Our standard green smoothie is spinach, banana, pineapple, mango and unsweetened coconut milk.

Calling it a Shrek smoothing might make it more appealing.

It isn't very likely that he would drink a green drink. He is picky about texture too, so I need to make it as smooth as possible. Thanks!

I have an extremely picky husband and would also like to know! I can't get anything past him, he turns up his nose at the whole thing if he so much as catches a whiff of cucumber juice.

I'm trying to get some extra vegetables into my kid and he is such a picky eater. They will need to be well disguised. Thanks for your help!
