Sorry but the BEST is out in Sterling OP: Taste of Burma. Family owned & operated. Chef couple worked at US Embassy before the junta took over. Unbelievable goat, green papaya salad & tea.

Mandalay restaurant in DC (same owners as the SS location) has already closed - family needed to return to Burma apparently.

I think Mandalay is constructing a restaurant somewhere in DC - not sure if it is done yet. Check their website.

Any recs for Burmese food in DC now that Burma in Chinatown has closed? I'm a big fan of Mandalay in Silver Spring but can't get there for a workday lunch. I adore Burmese ginger salad and wish I could eat it every day. I looked into making it but seems too complicated (especially with a young baby at home.
