It's good. No religion stuff during summer. My son learned a bunch -- Spanish words, songs in Spanish. Was just googling the place looking to enroll for the next summer, and thought I'd check DCUMD since it popped up among the results.

The Spanish Summer Camp is great!! My children have been for a couple summers now and they love it. They go on field trips, play games, and do projects. All of it in Spanish.

Any recent feedback on the summer camp?

I guess this is geared towards faith but in Spanish. It's a fine line there.

The facility is beautiful. It is in an old church, but the part for the school/camp is lovely.

There is no religion during summer camp at all. If you are interested in the school, then you might want to take this to another discussion.

I called and specifically asked this question. They said that during summer camp their will be no catechisms (sp?) or daily mass. Just 90% Spanish immersion and science, art, and music.

While, I haven't personally visited, I also asked about the facility they said they are in an old church but they have and are currently put a lot of resouces towards renovating their space. She said that their space practically looks brand new now..?

I can update after my tour.

the school is Catholic (really catholic, asks for baptism date on application and goes to mass every day and has a catechism teacher). don't know about the camp though.

Does this school have a religious affiliation?

Why would you say this? Clearly you are a clueless private school snob with a chip on your shoulder.

My kids liked the camp but it was a waste of money considering the paltry activities and the poor facilities (dusty church, repeated trips to duck pond, library, and fountain near nationals park--all walking). I would do comunikids over this if the location works. It wasn't even worth the Spanish immersion. I actually am quite bitter that we spent money on this. Maybe it will be better next year.

I think this got a mention on the DC public schools forum. Not positive, if I remember correctly. I thought it sounded interesting, though.

My two kids were there for a couple of weeks. It was great. The teachers were awesome and the kids had fun and kept their Spanish up! Win-win-win for all.

Know anything about this new camp?
