OP's title of the thread is misleading. The doc didn't say the infant was obese. The doctor said that he is at risk of being an overweight child or adult. Nowhere in the OP did it say the infant was obese. OP is exaggerating to get support for her point of view.

WTH? I don't see anywhere on the OP where the nanny is trying to give medical advice. She gave her OPINION in saying the doctor seems to be overreacting and ask other people's OPINIONS. Everybody is entitled to an opinion, whether or not that puts a smile on your face. She is not qualified to give medical advice and she wasn't trying to do so. Jeez... People around here are so tightly wounded it's quite scary.

My sister is a doctor and said that you can't classify a baby as obese.

The doctor may also not be qualified to give medical advice. Pediatricians have been known to give conflicting medical advice, as well as just plain lousy medical advice. Though I agree that in general doctors are more qualified to give medical advice than nannies.

Agree. I will say, my friend had to put her daughter on a "diet" at 13 months. She was way off the charts for weight and actually was having difficulty mobility wise because she was basically a sphere with arms and legs

you: Is his weight a problem?
Dr: Well, children who are overweight tend to have a higher risk of being overweight later in life.

Or did the doctor come out and say the baby is going to be a tub of lard?

There is a lot of room for interpretation of this scenario.

Who cares what you think. You're his nanny and if the parents trust the doctor, then you need to follow his/her guidelines. You aren't paid to make medical decisions.

Is this just BS? I'm a nanny and the 2 month old is 15.4 lbs. kind of chubby but the doctor is saying that he is at risk of being an overweight child and adult. I think the doctor may be taking it too far. What do you think?
