I was in a similar situation -but it was a FET. At 7 weeks I was measuring 6 week 1 day and they told me they were concerned. I went back in a week and it had grown exactly 1 weeks worth of growth. I'm 16 weeks along and everything is looking good. Good luck. We are talking about extremely tiny measurements here so there is some variability at these early ultrasounds that most women wouldn't even get if it weren't for infertility treatments.

Interesting pp. What clinic are you with?

Mine measured almost a week behind (at 8 week scan, he only measured 7 weeks 1day) but I was told it's normal for IVF pregnancy to measure a little small at first and it will catch up around 12 weeks. He did, and he is a very healthy toddler. Good luck OP!

OP good luck. The doctor called my husband this afternoon (I was out) and said there is a 60/40 chance of miscarriage. I guess I'm still hopeful.

Op here. Thanks all for the helpful info. And to those in a similar waiting game, I feel your pain. Based on what I have seen online (taken with a grain of salt), sounds like it could go either way. I'm trying to accept that it is out of my control, although it is hard to go, in one week from thinking you have two healthy progressing pregnancies to just one that is unsure. The curse of early u/s I guess.

Four days doesn't seem that far off. Just keep monitoring and try not to worry unless the difference becomes more pronounced.

I wonder if this also includes a "margin of error" for how fetuses growth. This is biological, so there must be intrinsic variablity.

At 7 weeks, my baby was measuring about a week behind. My OB even pushed the due date back a week, even though it didn't make sense at all given the timing of ovulation + intercourse. But at the 12 week ultrasound, she was measuring right where she was supposed to be and the US tech bumped my due date back to the original week. She said doctors aren't always so good at dating those early ultrasounds. Now I'm at 26 weeks and DD is measuring in the 43rd percentile for size, and kicks the crap out of me on a daily basis.

I went for my 6w us at SG today and was surprised to hear the baby is measuring small--only 6w 1d and I'm 6w 6d (IVF). The heart rate is only 89. Has anyone else come out of this situation ok? It's my second child and I don't remember being freaked out at this point the first time.

Yes and no. I was concerned briefly about dwarfism. Once she measured proportionate according to some criteria, I relaxed a little. Then, we got a diagnosis of IUGR. I didn't relax again until I was induced.

Op here. That's interesting, I haven't heard about a margin if error. My dr office has sophisticated equipment, and my Dr. specifically mentioned impending mc as a possibility, although certainly not the only outcome. I go back for another scan in one week.

Yes my baby was SFD and she stayed that way until she was born. Hang in there. Big hug!

I had my second u/s today, and learned that one of the twins I was carrying stopped progressing (empty sac). I know that is common. What I didn't expect was that the second is measuring at just 6 wk 2 days, and I am 7 weeks along (ivf, so no uncertainty there). Has anyone had similar stats result in a healthy pregnancy? This waiting is soooo hard. Thanks.
