OP here. Did not do 3 day transfer since 2 embryos looked good enough to survive up to day 5. But they didn't. This was one of the many cycles and I changed clinics after that.

I got pregnant naturally with AMH of .30 at age 34. Then did NCIVF at 37 with AMH of <.01. My AFC was 6. Don't let the RE rush you into donor eggs. As long as there is one, its possible that you can get pregnant.

I was on another board where some women were convinced that you could improve your AMH and FSH levels through diet, getting plenty of sleep, moderate exercise, and supplements like royal jelly and DHEA. I don't know, it was only anecdotal evidence. I don't think anyone has studied this.

OP, if you only have 2 eggs, why is your clinic waiting until they are blasts to put them back in? Normally with that few number of eggs, transfer occurs on day 3.

OP here. I had one cycle with only 2 eggs and none made to blasts. Others were 6-8 eggs but only few blasts. Yes, very true - imperfect science.

8 eggs is good, especially at your relatively young age you should be able to find a healthy one! My AMA was 0.5 and I never produced more than 1 mature egg.

If it helps explain things at all, my doctor said that they typically find that you are only as good as your worst number. For me, He said they wanted to see an AMH of above a 1.5 ...mine was .75. He said they wanted to see a FSH of below 10 ....mine was 13. He said over 10 ovarian follicles was considered normal and despite the fact that I had nine, his prognosis was less than optimistic. His advice was for IVF, sooner rather than later. I ended up with 3 eggs, then 3 embryo's, then only one genetically viable embryo. I'm currently holding him with my other, non-typing hand Good luck to you a thousand times over and try not to get too wrapped up in understanding the numbers too much. It is still an imperfect science.

I am baffled that these levels don't mean anything specific. I consulted Dr. Geoffrey Sher in December to get a second/third opinion and he said I needed to act up fast as my AMH was already low (and I know he specifically talked about AMH and age). Well, I needed to because I was 35 but what if the first AMH had shown up as 2.0? He would have not considered me as DOR in that case and I would have been under the impression that I still had some time left? My biggest fear right now is what if it is not 0.5 or 1.2 or 2.0 but is actually is 0.01. I would be wasting money in doing more cycles when the time would be for looking at donor eggs.

Yeah, I think it probably is DOR. (I'm the first reply above w/ AMH = .28). But I had similar stats (even worse at a tad bit younger) and I had success, so all is not lost! It's good that your doctor had gathered this much information and is treating you carefully. Good luck!

OP here. AFC was checked only once in all my cycles and it was 5 or so. FSH was 9 when AMH was 0.5. FSH was 7 with AMH = 1.2 and 2.0.
Hmm, DOR it is! Maximum eggs retrieved is 8.

I believe your AMH is only as good as your lowest tested value. Weird that it fluctuated so much, however. Is your AFC 6-8? If so, yes, in my undoctorified medical opinion that puts you in the DOR category for your age.

AMH, FSH and AFC all play a role in determining if you are DOR--any one number by itself doesn't mean that much.

All 3 tests were done through LabCorp on day 3 of menstrual cycle. I don't know which one is the correct one. My RE said he will have a protocol for me using the lowest recorded level (0.5).

Was it all done through the same office/same lab? I was told that over 1.0 was considered good. I was 33 with AMH of .28 and that was considered DOR. I never heard it could change so drastically, but maybe it can with certain vitamins or possibly it varies depending on the time w/in your cycle? I'm pretty sure mine was done on Day 3, but I don't know if that was because it needs to be done day 3 or if that's just when they took my blood for all the other tests.

AMH of 0.5 in May 2013, 1.2 in April 2014 and 2.0 in June 2014. These numbers seem to be changing the way they want. What do these numbers mean anyway?
