Go for it! I was 10 when I saw "The Godfather." I used to sneak and watch movies when I was a child. My parents didn't know it until I told them when I was an adult. "The Godfather" is still one of my favorite movies. It was beautifully written and the acting was phenomenal. The 70's produced some of the most amazing films. Only you know your child. If you think that he can handle it, then who cares what other people think.

It sounds like this is about you, not about him. Why not wait?

I saw it at 11 when it came out. I was fine. The scene with the horse's head disturbed me the most.

In those days my parents took me to see everything. The Exorcist was the worst. I couldn't sleep alone for months after that movie!

Our DCs age 12 and 14 have seen it several times, starting years ago. DH is a movie buff. They get that these things are fiction.

My DD watched it for the first time at age 13. It is now her favorite movie. It is a bit disturbing and might be a bit much for age 11.

I think 11 is too young. It's a disturbing movie.

I read the book at 12 and I was really upset. Great movie once I was older.

No. I would wait. As much as I love the movie, character and die to watch them with my DS, I don't want him to do Don Corleone on class mates just yet.

I feel the same as you! I would think 11 would be fine. There are certain parts I have watched with my 9 year old.

He is 11 at the moment and wise for his age. But still, just 11. Italian American if that matters.
