Do you have another single friend you can go out with on the town? That would be ideal...Even better if she is a single mother as well. Then you both can attend some singles mixers, dances, events, cruises, etc.

If not, have you thought about on-line dating?
It takes a certain amount of courage and confidence to go that route, but if you have both of these attributes, I say give it a shot.

Many couples these days have met on-line + many of these relationships are very successful.

If you are divorced and have young children that is two strikes against you being "amazing".

Most "amazing" men - and most half-way "amazing" men - are not looking for divorced women and they certainly are not looking for one who has children with all of the baggage that brings with it.

The repetitive posts are booooring. We get it, you don't like anyone divorced with kids. That wasn't her question. She wants to know where to find men that are not you.

I second OKC, but maybe talk to some normal friends in real life who can help by giving you some advice. There have been a series of threads over the past couple of months where many of us have talked about our online experiences. I suggest going back and reading through some of those -- I've given the same advice about online dating many times.

Met my ex out and about IRL. He's a man of poor character, verbally abusive and a jerk. Met my BF on OKC and he's mature, has integrity and treats me with respect. Took a while to find him, but he is way better than the guy I wound up with when I was single with no kids, just starting out. I chose badly for sure the first go around. BF does not view my kids as "baggage." That is such a sad way to look at the situation and I would run from any man that thought of my family that way.

I assume everyone has a different definition of amazing. 'Amazing' doesn't necessarily mean 'billionaire built like a Greek God.' For many women it can very well mean 'someone I click with super-well, who is a divorced dad with kids so gets me, etc.' Not the poster who first talked about not finding anyone amazing, but just pointing it out.

I met a guy on CL platonic. We've been hanging out for about 2 years now. Sometimes you can meet decent people on there. Anywhere you look online, expect most of the guys to be trolling for a hookup with the minimal amount of work possible. Filter, filter, filter! I met guys online and had lots of dates and a couple short term relationships. My post-divorce LTR came from meeting a guy in a bar of all things. Not a singles bar. And I wasn't even looking to meet someone or to be honest looking my best.

online - I've used OKCupid (just a bit) and several friends have met nice guys on the site. You can also try meeting people at bars/restaurants, but then you're relying on luck and right place/right time.

On line. Another single mom. I don't meet men to date in my daily life.

Kids are 10 and 12, and I work full time. I'm not ready for a serious relationship but I would like to go on a date once in a while. Where am I supposed to meet people?
