You're not taking enough Advil to get adequate relief. The label says to take it every four to six hours. Try one first and if it isn't enough, take two. Do not exceed 6 tablets in 24 hours.

Your mouth is propped open for a long time when you get a filling, that can cause your jaw to hurt later on.

The dentist filled two cavities way in the back of my mouth - and gave me two shots of novacaine, one on the bottom and one on the top.
My mouth was cranked way open so he could get to the back teeth, but only for about 30 minutes. Ever since, my jaw on the side of the fillings has been aching around the joint and my ear - ouch! My neck is a but stiff on that side too but that may be unrelated. I've been taking 2 Advil every 12 hours or so and it works well but don't want to take it forever. Anyone else go through this and how long did it take to feel better? I have no history of TMJ and the dentist did make sure my bite was fine after the fillings were complete.
