If you never use it, eventually they will cancel it for you. Has happened twice to me in the last year.

+1 to what everyone else said.

It's counter intuitive to keep it open, but you def should. Credit score is all a game.

When I was looking to buy a house, I looked at what helped credit. Having the same CC account for a very long time is helpful so I still have my very first credit card account and I never use it.

Don't cancel it. It helps your credit score to have additional credit available.

I have an old MasterCard that I stopped using because it didn't offer me any benefits; I'd had it for years. Last year I got a Visa through another bank that gives me points, so that's the one I use. I do not charge anything on the old card. Now I'm about to either open a new joint card with my husband or be added to his existing Visa. I'd like to get rid of the old MasterCard unless (a) it's beneficial to keep it on my credit report or (b) it would hurt me to get rid of it.

Advice? Thanks.
