What about a long sleeved polo, if the school allows it, it is not too restricting and warm for winter. My kids also wore short sleeved pools with a cardigan or school sweatshirt over them.

Depends on the school. I think it's a reasonable accommodation for someone with sensory issues.

That will depend on the individual school. Is it parochial school? I think they are generally the most strict. But it's worth a call anyway.


I have a boy, so can't really answer your question in numbers. I will say I buy more winter stuff than summer, because there are far fewer hot days in the school year. I made the mistake the first year of buying half and half. Waste of money on short sleeved shirts, for us anyway.

For those sending your daughters to schools with uniforms, how many items did you actually buy? (we're headed to private in 4th grade). And for the white shirts, were substitutions allowed (e.g. crew neckline long sleeved shirt instead of a turtle or collared neck). My kid dislikes stuff around her neck, so I worry about our choices in winter.
