As a physician leader in Canada with a great commitment to the health of Canadians, I am very concerned about the increasing evidence internationally that EMR is creating increasing health problems in our population as its use increases exponentially. This is particularly true among children and young Canadians, and teachers and nurses who are continuously exposed to WiFi routers in schools [and hospitals].


As a cardiac specialist, I am concerned that approximately 20% of people have detrimental cardiac rhythm sensitivity to EMR.


This issue is under active consideration by the Health and Public Policy Committee of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the Health Policy and Public Health Committees of the Canadian Medical Association and the Council of Family Physicians of Canada, the Canadian Pediatric Society and the Canadian Cardiovascular Society.


There is an abundance of evidence from around the world that EMR can be harmful to health. Many countries...not Canada or the United States...have initiated policies to mitigate the risks. We, in Canada, need to do the same or more.


It is imperative that City of Toronto does not install WiFi's in public parks and spaces. I ask you to vote against Councillor Matlow's proposal.

Actually a lot has been said on these frequencies. not good.
Our cells are not used to it and it is much more than we ever have had in our environment.

MYTH: “Electromagnetic Radiation like this has been around since the Earth began.”
FACT: Our society has never before been exposed to levels even remotely close to the current levels of microwave radiation in our living space today. WiFi emits levels of RF microwave radiation millions of times higher than what our parents and grandparents ever experienced. Wireless routers in classrooms are like bringing mini cell towers into classrooms.

Everything on earth, including the earth, including you, emits electromagnetic radiation. And the sun. We couldn't escape microwave rays if we tried.

It's not ionizing radiation, the stuff that burns you and damages your DNA. It's non-ionizing. It can make your already-vibrating molecules vibrate faster. That can risk heating them, although it's very rare. And our bodies are equipped to self regulate temp anyway -- the blood carries heat away from the overheated area.

So does anyone offer a hypothesis as to why additional molecular vibration may be bad? Or what else about microwaves' affect could cause damage? Because we are bombarded by the whole spectrum of EMR daily, naturally. What about wifi is so significantly different that it rises to the level of causing damage?

Go hear and hear the neurologist talking about brain damage from wifi. Im not kidding.

Maybe we should get our heads out of the sand a read what thesedocs are saying.
The American Academy of Pediatrics says that kids are not protected by our "safety standards".

Seems important. You can wrap yourself in foil if you want. Im going to talk to my school board.

Dr. Martha Herbert an neurodevelopmental researcher says wireless should not be in schools.

Dr Martha Herbert, a Harvard Doctor, an autism neurodevelopmental disorder researcher did a review of the research on neurological impacts from Radio frequency and said in a letter to the LA School Board:

“there are thousands of papers that have accumulated that document adverse health and neurological effects of RF...

RF from wifi and cell towers can exert a disorganizing effect on the ability to learn and remember and can also be destabilizing to immune and metabolic function, this will make it harder for some children to learn, particularly those having problems in the first place.”

Did you see what the Head of OBGYN at Yale said about wireless? He is saying we should turn the WIFI off to protect against brain damage.

There isa long list of Doctors signing this statement to take precautions.

Apparently low levels could be damaging.

Pretty much the same radio frequency as old broadcast TV.

Wi fi is 2.5 to 5 GHz, while TV was 300 MHz to 3 GHz. So if you were watching Captain Chesapeake on Channel 45 growing up, you had similar exposure.

WiFi is much weaker than cell phone radiation. I would not worry too much.

It's not safe at an exceedingly high level, and fine if at a low level. So step back and think about what kind of exposure your kids are getting. In our ES, the teachers' Macs are wired to the smart board and the computers in the media center are wired too, so unless a teacher brings iPads into the classroom for a project, there is no wireless exposure.

I intend to unplug the router every night to reduce our exposure but I always forget.

The telecommunications industry has suppressed the research. Some European countries do not allow wi-fi in daycare centers.

Is wireless radiation safe in schools?

I read it was a possible carcinogen and linked to immune damage. What do you know on this?
