You may wish to take a look at a guide prepared to help evaluate SAT prep programs.
The site also has practice problems for SAT and SAT prep.

There are a growing number of test optional schools as well. Look at www.fairtest.org

To be clear, I thought the Sunday class was very effective,

Or get a test prep book, work your way through it, and practice vocab words with a willing sibling. No prep for me, and that's how I ended up a NMSSF.

Have you considered test optional schools?

You can sign on to the online prep program through the testing service. Most of what you need is to practice the tests. And practice the tests. And practice the tests. You can buy tests pretty cheaply and then just practice.

Dang! $3000 on prep. This really does show how ridiculously unfair the standardized test system is.

Prep Matters is great, and well worth it, but yes it is pricey. I think ours was $185/session and DC probably did about 12-15 sessions. The practice tests are free and you can do them as often as you want. I think DC did them about every 3-4 weeks. By the time the tests rolled around it was old hat. Scores improved by over 400 points from 10th grade PSAT and baseline practice test.

Does prep matters offer group classes or just individual tutoring? I remember for the SSAT it was just one on one and it was like $250 an hour!!!

Prep Matters in Bethesda. A bit pricey, though.

My DD's scores were abysmal, however she is an excellent student. Please recommend a tutor or class that you have had success with in the Bethesdaa area.
