BTW I haven't liked a Beyonce song since the "Dangerously in Love" record. I find the new songs especially insipid.

Primarily a dancer, but she sings as well as most pop stars and acts as well as most starlets AND she has the media savvy to go with it. Add on top of that her brand (powerful, positive, female-centric) and she strikes a cultural chord in a way that someone who is a talented singer, but not multi-talented or brand-savvy (looking at you, Mariah) just doesn't.
