Our tutor comes to our home, and our adhd dd is suprisingly focused when the tutor is there. I don't think you have to tutor in a different location than home. We first started tutoring at the library, but changed at our dd's request that she would rather have it at home.

We live in Los Angeles, so I can't help you with specifics but we found a one-on-one tutor for our daughter with ADD and nothing has helped more! First, the tutoring happens at the tutor's apartment so DD is less distracted and second, the tutor is amazing, patient and funny. Our daughter's scores in reading went up three levels in one year!

ADD kids have group teaching all school year long - go with an individual tutor and hopefully one who works in their home or a study room in the library. The familiarity of home with all it's distractions is too much for an ADD kid.

I would definitely go with a one-on-one tutor as well.

For my ADHD child, one on one instruction is best, so I found a tutor from the lab school.

My rising 7th grader has mild ADD. Do you have an excellent recommendation for a tutor or summer program in reading, writing, math? I live in Fairfax but am willing to travel for a good program.
