There's a very active PTA and sense of community. It is a local IV center now, which has it's limitations, but there is no "us" and "them" feel that you can get with the centers.

We are in the midst of a renovation now, which will be annoying for the next year and half, but when it's done, the new school will be pretty fabulous.

The school feeds to Longfellow then Mclean HS or Kilmer and then Marshall, depending on exactly where you live.

That's true but all of Pimmit Hills is zoned to Kilmer and Marshall.

Although if you're zoned to Marshall but want to attend McLean High, you can always pupil-place using the AP route (if you wish to attend AP, they have to place you into the nearest school that offers AP, and that would be McLean).

Both schools feed primarily to Kilmer/Marshall, with a smaller number of kids going to Longfellow/McLean. But all of the Pimmit Hills neighborhood, whether zoned for Lemon Road or Westgate, is assigned to Kilmer/Marshall.

Doesn't Lemon Road feed into McLean HS and Westgate into Marshall?

Lemon Road is smaller and there's less "student mobility" (in other words, more of the kids who are in your kid's class this year will be there next year). It also has the AAP center.

Flip side is that people seem to think more highly of the Westgate principal than the Lemon Road principal.

Pimmit Hills feeds into two schools: Lemon Road and Westgate. Both seem similar on great schools, though Lemon Road seems much smaller. Which is better? Pros and cons for each?
