i personally find jon snow a very boring and stock character. he truly is boring.

danaerys is more interesting, jorah more interesting, littlefinger more interesting, varys, tyrion, arya, clegane, just a shit-ton more characters more interesting than jon snow.

be honest, besides wanting to fuck him (if you are a woman), what makes jon snow a good character?

a very flat character

+1

I can't think of a single witticism or thought I would attribute to him. He is not an interesting character.

I thought it was great. I did read the books and I like the story threads about the Wall and the Night's Watch about the best of any of them so I was looking forward to this. I loved see Jon Snow find his inner commander.

I liked it, but it was hard to follow at times. I always TiVo and watch in chunks so I can rewind as needed.

I enjoyed it, but I realized how short my attention span has become because I, too, was bored by the fact that the show stayed on one storyline for the whole episode

that was fucking boring. worst episode in the whole series so far.

i guess i just do not care for the story-lines at castle black and north of the wall unless the red-head 'you know nuffin jon snow' gets her tits out for the lads.

Yes- next Sunday is a 66 minute episode. You won't be disappointed!

Signed,
My husband has read the books and tells me everything

I read the books and was expecting it to be the same format as seasons past where the penultimate had the huge plot development before the season ends. I honestly think they made a conscious decision to leave more of the action for the season finale as opposed to how they have handled it in seasons past.

That said they have a lot to get through in one episode next week so I am looking forward to it.

Another reason I think folks were disappointed because we only saw the Wall, that is rare for GOT- so it makes sense that it seemed slower paced and not as exciting because we didn't cut back and forth between storylines.

Really?! Giants and a mammoth didn't do it for you?! Personally, I like any episode with John Snow, especially if it involves no shirt.

Personally I thought it was a really cool battle. Some interesting fighting techniques and cool effects and stunts- the stuff on the wall especially.

Was really sad to see Ygritte go (I'm reading the books but haven't caught up yet, so wasn't prepared for that).

I also didn't realise it was the penultimate of the season until after it aired. In terms of plot tension, I don't think it quite compares to the red wedding or the beheading of ned, but still an interesting episode for me.

OP here -- I did not read the books either and have no interest in a books vs. series comparison. I posted purely about the show.

First, let me say how bummed I am that it is the penultimate episode. I had no idea the end of the season was on the horizon.

Next, I didn't read the books, so I am not comparing with that.

But, I agree. As compared to the kings landing battle, much less suspense. I'm not sure why. I was fearful that Sam was going to bite it, but am happy he made it.

Color me disappointed. The battle for the Wall did not have the tension and excitement of the big King's Landing battle. Something lacking here. Too much Sam? Too dark for me to see what was going on?
