How about membership sales at a high end gym? You'll get a free membership, be on your feet all day, & get to interact with lots of folks. I get the impression you can be somewhat flexible with hours so long as you're meeting your sales quotas.

Realistically what kind of training is required for this? Not OP but have a similar situation. I don't have a science background.

At least a Masters.

Do you have any thoughts about what salary you would want to make it worthwhile? That's been my biggest obstacle to finding a new career path. A lot of meaningful, out in the field type jobs have low wages.

Not if OP wants flexible hours.

I wonder how long this training will take. Probably a while?

This isn't as flexible as a career as people think, especially for a new hire.

Anyways to answer your question.

LPN (I advise against this) 1-2 years
RN -ADN 2-3 years (depending on transfer credits and the program)
Rn-BSN 4ish years (again depending on transfer credits) this is all full time

So, I've been a SAHM ever since my 4 year-old was born. I also have a 19 month-old. I am 39 years-old and am positively done having kids. Pre-kids, I was a graphic designer. I have no interest in returning to that profession in any capacity. I want to start paving a new career path now so that when I'm ready to re-enter the workforce in the next year or so, I will be prepared. Laying the groundwork now, so to speak.

While I am not sure what exactly it is I want to do, I do have some criteria in mind. I DO NOT want to sit at a desk all day. I am antsy by nature and this drives me absolutely up the wall. A job requiring physical exertion would be great, as my personal fitness is important to me. I would, of course, like to have the flexibility to be able to participate in my young kids' school lives, i.e., transporting them to and/or from school, school events, etc. I would like this new career to be at the very least, somewhat rewarding -- perhaps one helping people, the community, the environment, creative fulfillment, yada yada..

I'm open to almost anything whether it be law enforcement, medicine, the arts, parks and recreation, social work, advocacy, etc. I just want something where I'm moving around (both figuratively and literally) -- not in some static place of daily looping mundanity.

Am I dreaming?
