For historical fiction, I recently enjoyed Teatime for the Firefly. I also love M.M. Kaye, especially The Far Pavilions. The Autobiography of Henry VIII (historical fiction) was also good.

A lot of people love Cutting for Stone, though it wasn't really to my taste.
