We got DD (5) an adult set. I figure she can take it with her when she leaves the house. If she doesn't want it in her bedroom, she can keep it in the guest room. I got a queen size bed because I will be sleeping in it as a guest.

Her room is very girly, but not little kid like.

We bought a nice set for my 14 yr old DD at Haverty's. White and girly but not "young" looking.

My dd is 4 and I got her a full size bed so she can grow with it. The only drawback has been finding cute disney bedding/comforter. Most of the one s we liked only came in twin for some reason. Finding full cutesy bedding has been a challenge

So, for example (not necessarily my favorites or anything) here is an "adult" white bedroom:

And here would be "little girl" furniture:

The little girl furniture is more "cutesy" I guess? But if I got adult furniture, I would not get white, because I'm not really a huge fan of white furniture for adults. The other issue is kids' furniture is typically full size beds, whereas I would prefer queen. I'm planning on getting high quality pieces either way, and while I was originally all set on getting a little girls set, the more I thought about it, the more sense it made to get something that could just stay with us forever.

I got my daughter a nice white set that is solid and not cutesy, with a full-sized bed. I figure it can grow with her when we change out the bedding and accessories later on. Got it from Belfort and it's holding up well.

Buying for the long term will be a smarter investment. Kids don't care about furniture.

We went the regular furniture route. You can always update bedding and art.

It is time to buy dd a bedroom set, and I am torn... do I get her one of those white, "little girl" bedrooms that are so cute, or do I get her regular bedroom furniture and just cute bedding/decorations. The little girl bedrooms are cute but I feel she might grow out of them, and maybe if I get her a regular set I can use it as a guest room when she grows up. Part of me just wants to get high quality, adult furniture, and just keep it forever. What do you think?
