Get the box bracelet from tiffany. I have no idea if that's what it's called but it's like interlocking boxes. She can wear it for years and years to come. If that's too pricey try jcrew jewlery.

Another idea is Crane stationary engraved with her name or initials and address. Crane has a "younger" looking collection and you can never go wrong with high quality stationary when writing thank you letters. Before someone says that this is an old-fashioned suggestion, I will say that I am not very old, and that hand written letters have helped open doors for me.

On the other hand, I also agree that it need not be a fancy or expensive gift. A bouquet of flowers and a card would be nice.

10:29 here - I totally agree that an expensive gift is not in order - but unike others downplaying 8th graduation - it could potentially be a big day for the graduate. Giving something as a token to remember is nice. It doesn't have to be big or lasting - and I am sure it isn't even "expected" - but more than just a card would probably be appreciated and is not excessive. I like the flowers idea or a nice necklace (if she likes that sort of thing)

You'd be surprised - I've heard many families with graduating/graduated HS seniors say that their children cherish the experience at our K-8 over their time at HS. It's a very nice community and they spend 9 years there. They come back for reunions all the time and keep in touch.

This is certainly true for BFCDS ... But a gift at graduation does not add to the specialness of the occasion. Keep it simple ... Even a nice bouquet of flowers would be nice.

I agree that a nice card and a gift card is fine... and I still have reunions with my 8th grade. My son just graduate 8th grade. I don't think a $100 present is appropriate. Maybe a t-shirt to the school he is going to next year.

But mostly these "celebrations" are low key.

TIffany does a stiff business for 8th graders so I don't think that you can go wrong. Really she is in high school now. That's old enough for Tiffany, imo. And they are beautifully made and will last forever.

I have gotten necklaces for girls that age from Appalachian Spring. In Georgetown, they are pretty good about giving advice on what's age appropriate.

If not, I really like the idea of a charm bracelet.

I wouldn't start with Tiffany jewelry for an 8th grader. There's tons of cute less expensive jewelry. Alex and Ani has individual bracelets that you can bundle (so buy one with a graduation charm and one with beads for color). Each bangle stars at $30 or similar--so you can spent what you're comfortable with and she can add on.

You don't indicate a budget, but Tiffany carries some nice silver necklaces and bracelets in the $100-$125 range. They are quite popular with girls her age. If that's too much money I'm sure you can find something (necklace, charm bracelet, etc) at some of the department stores - Lord & Taylor, Macy's, etc.

My niece is "graduating" from a K-8 and has invited me to attend the program. I'd like to bring her a gift, but am coming up blank. My children are younger, and I'm not sure what is appropriate. Any suggestions? Would like it to be more meaningful than a gift card.
