I don't get it, some of these shows are interesting like the Weather Channel shows that talk about NYC being submersed in hundreds of feet of water or another devastating earthquake in CA. You obviously turned it on because you were interested. Isn't any show about dinosaurs a mockumentary? Just don't get where you are coming from at all. At the very least, you can explain "historical fiction."

Why are you blaming Discovery for your inability to talk to your children and/or control what they watch?

I happen to be watching the Discovery show, "Megalodon: The Monster Shark Lives" when my kids walked in. They are obsessed with sharks. Now I am stuck trying to explain the concept of a "mockumentary" to my 5 year old. Why is Discovery doing shows like this (also the Mermaid one)? People lack basic science knowledge, why make things worse?!
