I took my 15 year old to see it, and I absolutely loved it. And I'm not a Jolie fan. With that said, there were numerous kids there under 9 years. They were also well-behaved but that may have been because they were either mesmerized or scared. We saw it in 3-D.

LOL! I read that too. Honestly, why didn't they just say "We really felt like we needed at least one of our kids to prove they could act"

Saw it -- I think the minimum that can handle it is probably 11 or 12. It's pretty intense at parts. Kind of a schizophrenic mix of super intense and adult and slapsticky comedy in places. Very tonally hard to pin down, but not one for the young kiddos.

Saw the movie tonight, it was excellent - but I could see it be terrifying for my 4.5 year old. Not sure I would take a 5 year old, YMMV.

Way to scary for a 5 year old girl. The 8 year old girl with us tonight left crying.

I saw it today with my 8 year old son. There were VERY intense moments, mostly in the earlier parts of the movie (after the beginning though). I have a battle-lovin' kid and that's how I sold it to him, but it was too much for him at times. He had his shirt and hands over his face for quite a bit of the movie. That said, there aren't as many "scary" parts as I had thought there would be, but they are front loaded (I felt) and so he had his defense posture (hands and shirt over face) any time Maleficent or another certain character was on the screen afterwards, even if not scary or intense at all. Afterwards, he said he liked it and that it wasn't too scary. I would not have taken him at 6 and I don't know about 7.

Yes too scary, and I haven't even seen it. And yet I know it is too scary.

Anyone taken their kids to see it? Too scary for a five year old girl?
