We have severe male factor and used ICSI and had consistently a 50% or 60% fert rate but always only a few made it to day 3 or 5. Had 3 three day transfers (never any 8 cell) and two five day transfers. In our experience the probable issues w the sperm came through after fertilization. How many of
Yours made it to day 3 or 5?

Yes, and they were young donor eggs, so it seems like it could have been the sperm.

Depends, if the sperm have high DNA fragmentation (you can test for this) and ICSI was used, then it probably is the sperm.

Actually my re at Cornell (Owen davis) says fertilization failure is generally tied to problems with sperm rather than egg

Fertilization with ICSI has more to do with egg than the sperm. Sperm's importance gains after the fertilization. Were all 6 eggs mature?

No identified male factor but only two of six fertilized. But one of them was a keeper!

we used ICSI but very few eggs fertilized (severe MF)-- has this happened to anyone else? did you try anything or change anything and get a high amount of fertilization in another cycle? appreciate any thoughts.
