It did move but no biggie. Stay in the city. Sheraton society hill or there is a new hotel that is all suites right by reading terminal market near city hall. 2 rooms with couch. Nice hotel! Have lunch at RTM.

If you stay on city line ave. and have a car, please touch is an easy 5-8 minute drive through fairmont park.

As an alternative to Philly, Princeton is much more low key. Beautiful college town, low-key in the summer.

Warning, this weekend coming up is commencement + reunions. So a big blowout and no accommodations available. But any other time, it's lovely.

We were just in Philly last weekend with our toddler, and went to the Please Touch museum. It's near the zoo, which isn't too far from the city center, but definitely not walking distance. We stayed in the city center and took PHLASH ($2 per trip pp, or $5 pp for an all day pass) to get to both the museum and the zoo, which was reasonably convenient on Saturday but took forever on Sunday. You have to switch busses/shuttles at a certain point to take the zoo/museum one. The first bus (around the city) is reasonably stroller friendly, but the second is not.

How old is your toddler? At 16 months ours was still really a bit too young to get a lot out of the Please Touch museum. Definitely more worth the money if your child is 2+, IMO.

Please Touch is in West Philly. Where in NJ are you going? You really won't need to break up the drive from DC to NJ with anything more than a rest stop break. I'd stay in a hotel close to wherever you are going to maximize your out of car time over the course of the weekend. Plenty for toddlers to enjoy in any hotel with a pool, some lawn space and an elevator . Plus there are lots of zoos, farms, etc in NJ to visit with young kids.

Not sure where the Please Touch museum is, but we stayed on City Ave at the Homewood Suites. Big room, free full breakfast, connected to a Hilton which had a pool. About 10 minutes from Center City.

We have a family party on Sunday in NJ, so would like to go to Philly or somewhere nearby for the night with our toddler to break up the driving. Does anyone have any suggestions of a hotel or sites to see?
