For those suggesting DSL, once a house has been wired for FIOS, DSL is no longer available. they physically cut the copper wiring. We had DSL and subsequently got FIOS. When we wanted to go back to DSL, they told us it was not available, even though our neighbor has it.

I did this.
standalone internet is 79
For phone I got ooma internet. Works well. I just have to pay for international calls per minute. Phone + int calls used to be $45 per month. Now I just pay about $10 per month
ooma was about $100 up front
I got a nice antenna from best buy for $99 and that gives me 50 channels.
I also got roku and that was about $60

I was happy, but fell into the netflix trap and that is $7.99 per month.
My man wanted the dvr back, so for that I got tivo, which I really like. That also costs $14.99 per month.

All together I had less than $400 up front costs, and now pay about $30 for everything. Some roku channels also cost. I enjoyed discovering this side of technology

We have DSL and landline for $60 a month from Verizon. Local calls included, and a long distance plan with another company for another $10 a month.

With Comcast's internet do you get basic cable?

We cut out cable and are saving about $100/month. We don't have a landline though, haven't in a long time, just use our cellphones.

I managed to find Verizon for $50 a month for internet and phone - no cable. The phone is 5 cents a minute - unlimited would have been a flat $10 more but we dont use it very often. They arent offering this anymore, but you might be able to call and ask.

Comcast is also offering $39.99 for internet and phone plus an extra $7 for the modem - maybe Verizon will match it?

Why would you need a landline? That's the first thing I've cut.

Need it for security system.

FIOS screws you and I can't find anything less than $99 with no cable. They like to sucker you into their bundles.

Not quite the same, but we have cable for $21.04 (lowest package) per month. And I pay $29.99 for a non-Smart phone. So we pay about $50/month for "services."

DH uses a BB and an Ipad he got from work.

I'm thinking about cutting cable TV. I'm with comcast at the moment and get all three services for about $185 a month. Curious what deals others have reached for just phone and internet.
