These are all things DD and DS love and will eat as a snack (and sometimes as dessert). Most of the processed stuff you can buy is garbage and most of the "good" unprocessed stuff is expensive, so I set aside like 20 minutes to whip something up on Sunday that will last the week.

NP. I'm kitchen-challenged. Do you have links to make the kale chips and/or the black bean brownies? Thanks!

Chips, if you really want to know.

But I agree with PPs that you need to wean them off the daily junk food. Occasionally, no problem. Not everyday though.

Sunchips are whole grain.

The chips are going to be slightly "healthier" because they most likely offer a couple grams of protein and perhaps even a little fiber. Many chips nowadays have more unsaturated fat than saturated. The cookies are going to have tons of sugar, artificial flavor, high fructose corn syrup, and saturated fat (unless you are getting cookies from Whole Foods, in which case they will still have a lot of sugar). What about something like Smartpop or Skinnypop popcorn, Popchips, Veggie Straws, or Terra Chips?

You are very tactful. Most of us just offer opinions without asking Are you sure you belong on DCUM? :-p

Mixed nuts and raisins. Salty sweet and crunchy, but with some actual health benefit.

An apple is super sweet and makes a fine desert. Grapes, too.

But to answer your question: Neither is "healthy" so asking us to judge one as "healthier" than the other is kind of pointless. It's all junk. It's OK to give them junk, just don't use the "h" word in this context.

Busy working mom here, packing lunch for two kids every day. They like salty chips for dessert, Doritos or Sun chips or Cheetos. They'll settle for cookies (mini Oreos, or chocolate chips). Which poison is healthier?
I wonder what would happen if i threw in a jello pudding one day. Messier (they are young, messy eaters), but healthier?
Thanks in advance.
