Subject: Loft bed for ten y.o. boy
We got one from pottery barn a few years ago. DS is nearly 12 & still loves it, he says he never wants another be (who knows if that will change). We change the sheets together. He uses the desk a lot too.

I'd like one for DD but we only have 8 foot ceilings. The models we liked (desk under the bed) require 10 foot ceilings. Crappy, cheap apt in Dwtn SS.

How? Ours was up against the wall and was pretty high. Perhaps I wasn't creative enough, but to get everything tucked in, etc., I had to climb up there. It was a double, not a single bed.

I didn't find changing sheets that bad. I did it from the bottom.

My son had one for two years when he was in elementary school. It seemed like a good idea, but it was really hard to change the sheets. Not a lot of room to maneuver up there. I hated it. Ultimately, we went back to a regular bed.

He has a fairly small BR with lots of windows and doors. He is asking for a loft bed with a desk underneath in order to free up space in his room. How much longer will he like this? He will probably move into another BR on top floor, but not for at least three or four years.
