I always just put them on hold. Pick up every few minutes say uh huh, then put the phone down again for quite a while.

In the office we transfer them through to about 10 people. Good times.

When I get one if those bs it's calls, I tell them that I was a professional tax return preparer for 20+years (that's true), then I tell them that they should learn to speak better English if they are going to make these calls. They are always insulted( I think they get hired because they can speak English), then they hang up. My little bit if fun for the day.

In the past 3 days, I have received calls from +501 but I didn't answer them. After getting one this afternoon, I answered it and the person on the other end, mumbled her name and said she was calling in regards to my Washington Gas bill. When I said that I live in an apartment with utilities included, she hung up.

I thought this was suspicious so I called Washington Gas. They said that their payment reminder calls come from a different number and the caller would ask for the account holder by name.

So, I googled it. Turns out +501 calls are made using VOIP and are associated with some phone scams.
