yeah, Maserati is probably outside my comfort zone. Very cool that it is so unique, but probably too flashy. Not the image I'd want to present. To me, the Jaguar is not so cheesy flashy. Not sure?

I think the Lexus GS is not TOO common.

I understand your point, but the Jaguar XF is just so bland. They haven't updated the styling much in, what, 8 years?

If you want something unique, the Maserati Ghibli is a good fit for those who are brave enough. They are being heavily discounted since Maserati is trying to make their sales numbers. You can get a well optioned SQ4 with a sticker in the 85k range for around 65k. Some people point at the Chrysler switch gear and infotainment system, but you can just as well point to the Ferrari-built engine, the real Italian leather, and the truly unique styling.

The Ghibli is definitely for someone with a bigger risk tolerance, however.

I fell out of love with Jaguar when they changed the look of the cars and made them so terribly bland and unstylish.

As a range rover owner I can attest to this. Absolute garbage, bit i likenit and we have the monew to burn. We trade ours in every 3 years. However, it has never left me stranded. If it does, that will be the end of the rover.

Ok, the truth about luxury cars is they are nice. Some drive really nice (e.g., BMW's); some coddle you in a cocoon. But, they are expensive to buy, and expensive to maintain. That's how I react when I see the 5-series, E-class, GS350, whatever else people are driving out there.
A Lexus is an overpriced Toyota. An Acura is an overpriced Honda. An Audi is an overpriced Volkswagen. Infiniti--well, at least they have some style, they're not just Nissans.
Your BMWs and Mercedes, they just scream, "Notice Me!" or "I'm Entitled!" or "I've Arrived!" Along with the other 250,000 people in our area trying to shout the same thing.

If you want less pretentious, buy a solid, higher-end Toyota. If you want distinctive, get something that actually does something different--like a Tesla. Or one of the BMW electrics.

And if you like the style of the XF, stop apologizing and get it. At least it's different. I kind of like the look.

Having a Jaguar is not pretentious f you like the style I have one and my husband drives a Range Rover. FYI we are British.

I think that Jag is awful. Really awful. Loot at the 2014 Maserati Ghibli. You won't see those everywhere.
