I didn't go to a boarding school, but many of my military brat friends did. This was 25 years ago, but sometimes boarding school is the best option when your parents are living overseas and moving every 18 months, or dad is on an unaccompanied tour. It provides consistency and stability and supervision that moving and changing schools that often lacks.

PP here- would I send my kids? Sure, if I win the lottery by then. My freshman year cost $14K all in. Now its more like $50K.

I wanted to- it sounded like, and was, awesome! In 8th grade when I did the tours it felt like a combination of summer camp and school. I loved the idea of spending all my time making great friendships, being part of a community in a very unique way and having the chance at independence so early. Plus the education was great.

Which do you think is more likely, getting a Social Security check or martians invading earth?
