No playground, but the first rest stop after you cross over the NC border on I95 is a nice, clean one with room to let the kids run around. Park in the lower parking lot and their is grassy space beyond.

I have visited most of the playgrounds and the ones I have visited have pictures, an address, and hyperlinked directions, along with a review of what you will find at these playgrounds. Type in the city/ies and figure out how to get there. I have never seen a playground at a rest stop. These playgrounds at elementary schools
of course do not have rest rooms, so if you want playgrounds and rest rooms you have to find a fast food restaurant or gas station near the
playground.
This is a great idea.
Also, at Exit 45 south of Petersburg, there's a Howard Johnson motel that has a huge playground. We used to plan a stop there for gas, picnic lunch, and play.
Of course you don't really belong there, but if you are clean and not rowdy, you probably won't be bothered.

Subject: Rest Stops/Playgrounds for Kids on I-95 in North Carolina
We're doing the dreaded Memorial Day roundtrip, but now that we have two walkers, are always looking for a safe place for hte kids to stretch their legs. Does anyone have a suggestion for good places to stop in North Carolina in the I-95 corridor? Prefer outdoor/non fast food playground, but anything works. We usually hit the chick fila in Roanoke Rapids or the McDonalds in Wilson, but I'd love a regular old playground.
