I left Shady Grove, but I feel this thread is not productive. I got pregnant at the second clinic, but they had problems as well.
If you really hate your clinic and can't resolve your problems with them then change clinics.

My nurse sucked. Like, never returned phone calls. And was missing an empathy gene.

It took them and their contractor more than SIX MONTHS to get me a copy of my records when I left the practice.

After an unsuccessful lap/hystersocopy for Asherman's, my doc wanted to do hormone testing to determine why my cycles weren't back to normal. Um, maybe because you've had me on birth control/estrogen for the past 2.5 months when I haven't been on ANY hormones for 3.5 years? Maybe give it a month or so?

They tried to push me toward IVF even though I have very little healthy lining in my uterine cavity and admitted my chances of miscarriage would be very high.

The whole operation made me feel like an animal in a factory. Moo.

Agree - they suck. Not sure there are any practices that don't, frankly.

My nurse at SGF is amazing! She is my second nurse there after my first one left. I am so thankful because nurse #2 is really really wonderful and I think that makes a lot of the difference. I had success at SGF and really like my RE though did have a few financial issues which were resolved with the lead financial folks in Rockville. Hoping for #2 here soon.

I'm not the PP you're responding to, but as compared to other local area clinics they have some of the best outcomes. Sure there are clinics like Cornell, but not everyone can afford to go there or fly around the country to other clinics (and it's fortunate if you can). So for those of us in the mid-Atlantic, SGFC is one of the best choices.

Does there really need to be another thread devoted to bitterness and virtriol directed at Shady Grove? Many women have great experiences there, including me, but it's unfortunate that others have not. You're better off directing your outrage at Shady Grove directly than creating yet another useless and nasty thread if you really want things to change.

Lesson learned: your favorite clinic is the one at which you had success. For me it was Shady Grove- twice.

I have three kids thanks to Shady Grove. Great experience all around.

No one was unkind to me, no issues with financial services (Cleveland was very helpful and on top of it - at least for me), the doctors were willing to work with me despite not being an "easy case", and they were an affordable option as compared to some of the other clinics we looked at (I encourage folks to look around - SGFC has some of the best outcomes AND the most affordable rates if you're paying out of pocket).

I had an issue with one nurse the second time I was there. She was very nice but not terribly responsive. I spoke to the head of the nursing staff and I was moved to another nurse - no big deal. That was the only issue and it really wasn't that much of one.

And to those who say that the doctors don't care. I sent my primary doctor a picture of my three kids after my last DC was born and she sent an e-mail back saying how thrilled she was for me and how much it meant to her that I'd sent her the picture.

Lastly, I've recommended my doctor to two friends, both of whom have been very happy with their treatment. One of them is pregnant thanks to SGFC.

Great experience here at Rockville. Have a DD and trying for a second child. Would absolutely send my friends to them if they required IF treatments.

I had a great experience with Shady Grove. Loved my doctor and the nurses were fine. My kids are now 7, 7 and 4. I've recommended them to another 3 or 4 friends and all had good experiences as well.

I think the person in charge of the nurses needs to do a better job of rewarding the great ones and weeding out the bad ones. The nurse assigned to you makes all the difference and some of them in Rockville are awful. People need to know it's ok to complain about a nurse and switch - best thing I did. Otherwise I have been happy.

Someone complained that the "how could they send a mother's day card to triers" email complaint thread was old. So do people have complaints about SG other than the card? I suspect so.

List the topic of your complaint before you vent - but vent. Keeping it inside and thinking that shitty treatment is acceptable is NOT okay and won't help you. Stress adds to infertility and all SGF does is provide stress to people already stressed out.

Some of the options for complaints:
1. Financial
2. Nurse
3. Doctor
4. Staff
5. SGF policies - not explained until you lived it?
6. attitude
7. advertising - other than the email

And state which office - everyone thinks its just DC - but I think the other offices have their issues, DC just might be the worst.

Staff

I went in for a uterus scan months after a miscarriage. While items were in my vagina; fluid is being put in my vagina I was asked how old my child was. Really? Yeah - I asked "what?" and the technician said well you have been pregnant before from the way your uterus looked, so how old is your little one. I told her I had a miscarriage months ago and hadn't gotten pregnant since so that is why I was at a fertility clinic. Seriously.

SGF management said she should have read the chart. Really - you think? And SGF management asked me her name - really - because they can't look up my chart and see who performed it that way.

If staff is so busy busy busy (she was chatting with another staffer when I came in about social things not working) then put little dots on the folders like purple for miscarriage; green for secondary infertility; orange for medically shy; etc. So that staff has a quick way to know. How hard is that?
