Ditto this. I cannot resist Giant sheet cake. You can get it decorated however you like -- they even have the machine that will make the icing look like a picture that you bring in and scan.

Have to strongly disagree. I bought a Dora cake from Giant and we threw it out. The frosting was so nasty. My daughter still talks about how yucky the cake was over a year later.

OP, I was just at an adult birthday party and had what I thought was the most delicious cake. It was a pretty formal affair at a fancy house in upper NW. Catered of course. I asked the hostess where she got the cake.....Safeway. Every cake I buy from now on will be from Safeway.

Oddly enough, Shoppers has AWESOME cakes. I got one one last minute for a party and everyone raved about it. They will decorate it however you want.

OP here - we have a Safeway really close to us and they have great prices too, but some of their decorating I've seen for other parties could really go on Cakewrecks I've seen cute examples online of what I'd like a bakery to do, I just am hoping to find a place that has a good artist.

I don't know how good their specialty decorating is or if you have a membership, but Costco has really good sheet cakes (and they're dirt cheap).

Can anyone recommend a DC bakery to get a great sheet cake? (Or a layer cake big enough to serve 25 or so is fine too.) I'd especially like to find a place who can do really cute decorating, as DD wants a character on her cake. Thanks!
