Huh? Where are these women? Do they actually ask for permission, as in "May I go to the movies?"

Or is it "Hey honey, so I was able to get out of work early and decided to go see Jaws 7 this afternoon. It was great. How was your day?" I'm married and have done that.

More like, "Is there anyway possible that I can get a couple hours to myself this week? I want to _____."

That is inspired. Last time I went to the movies by myself was in grad school. Don't know why I haven't thought of it recently.

I love going to the movies by myself during the day, I am a SAHM, I did this too when I was a Working mom. It's nice to get away.

Nope. WOHMs.

I cringe when I hear these women asking if they can go out to the movies or even for a walk in RCP.

I was shocked as a divorced mom to discover how much easier it was for me to do what I pleased. I have primary physical custody and just plan around the EOW and 1 weeknight that ex-DH has the kiddo. Now that I am partnered up again, I am very careful to stake out me time as a non-negotiable. I don't ask. I don't justify. I just put it on the calendar and go do my thing. No fuss, no muss.

Normal except the part about not telling your spouse.

My best friend and I sometimes skip out of work a tad early on a Friday (only around 4-4:30) to meet at the E Street Cinema to watch a movie only the two of us want to see (usually a documentary). There's usually a 5:30-5:45 show. I get a crab pretzel and she gets nachos. We both get beers (yes, they have alcohol there). It's something we both look forward to!

If I could manage to slip away for two hours during the workday, I would love to do something like this. I think it's a nice treat and a great way to end the week!

I do this for the sci movies and action blockbusters my partner hates. I sneak a boozy milkshake in my purse. Favorite combo was The Wolverine and a pint of Haagen Das's coconut macaroon mixed only with enough coconut rum that it was liquidy.

This is healthy. I'm sure your DH won't give a shit what you're up to as long as you're not giving handies to strangers in the movie theater. Sometimes we need to do stuff by ourselves. Enjoy!!!

Every so often I'll take a Friday off or work half a day and go watch a midday movie by myself. I'll buy popcorn and a soda (I Nader drink soda in my regular life) and a pack of skittles. On Friday I watched "Neighbors" which was actually pretty funny. I never invite nor tell my spouse about it.
