Nordstrom sells several brands of nice panty hose in a range of colors for women with different skin tone. They're flattering, sturdy, and don't run easily. They make me feel fully dressed instead of half-naked. Maybe in the middle of summer, with a khaki skirt suit that's not very formal, I'll go bare legged. Otherwise, yes, I'll wear panty hose.

Sounds like they have a case for not hiring any of the women they interviewed by making hose this arbitrary screening tool.

It's absolutely disheartening to see young women forgo hose -- bare legs are really distasteful, interview or day-to-day. We really need to turn the tide back to wearing them. They're sexy, too.

+1 our office managing partner would absolutely pass on you if you didn't have hose on. Others woukdnt bat an eye. Point is, why would you risk it? Just wear super sheer hose.

I never ever wear hose. Ever. I got my current job without wearing them and as I'm interviewing for a new one, it hasn't made a difference in me getting another interview. I do a lot of conference presentations as well. Almost always wear a dress. Pantyhose is frumpy and unnecessary and needs to just go away.

Not required. I am in my 20s. Most people my age do not wear them.

I don't know that It's necessarily "required", but I don't think you go wrong by wearing hose with a skirt suit. If I were one of those women who hates hose, I'd wear a pant suit. I may be in a minority at my age (36), but I like the way my body looks in hose and I think it makes me more confident and put together.

So along the same lines as the suit for an interview question, do you all think that pantyhose are required for women wearing a dress/skirt suit for an interview. Assume interview is for a midlevel government or nonprofit position, not a lawyer or banking.
