Maybe not high-end designer, but definitely prescription sunglasses. Couldn't live without them. My current pair is Ralph Lauren I think. Love them.

+1 agree! I'm the lindberg poster above. That they are completely unadorned was a definite plus. And I switch them out with Warby Parker frames.

I've gone to Hour Eyes and they have designer frames. I get them but they aren't super expensive. Usually I take advantage of the BOGO sale they run and get 2 pairs for the price of one.

Hell no. I get my glasses from America's Best. It's been 4 years since I had to get new frames and if they ever break I'll go right back. I'd much rather spend my insurance benefits on contacts.

I have plastic Ray Ban frames (prescription sunglasses and regular glasses) but I got them at Target and they were actually somewhat reasonable (about $250/pair all in, no insurance).

You do know they sell those at Costco. One manufacture makes most of the lens crafter, pearl, etc. brands and its all marketing on changing the name of the brand to the style. I consider "designer" glasses the ones at the fancy glasses stores that are $450+ for just the frames and around that much for the lenses.

I switch between $800+ glasses to the Costco glasses. It just depends on what I like at the time. I don't care about the brand. At this point, I'd rather go cheaper and change every year than keep a few years. I have a bad prescription so it helps with the weight and look to get the very high index. I prefer plastic to metal as I hate the nose pads.

Oliver Peoples, which are not as expensive as Lindberg or other brands I tried on. I got the OPs because that company can install nose pads.

Yes, totally worth it unless you plan to do contacts.

I ask because I just got my eyes checked and now I need eyeglasses. I didn't realize how expensive they are until now. My insurance pays very little.
