Powdered Kelp works for me

I use Benadryl and an albuterol inhaler to get through the spring.

I take Zyrtec at night, and then on bad days like around now, I take a Claritan in the morning. An allergist told me it was ok to do that, though you should check with one.
I also did the shots for a while, and that seems to have helped tone mine down. I used to have days where I was completely non-functional from allergies.

If you're coughing that hard, I'd see an allergist. Might be time for an inhaler.

Go to urgent care and get an rx for an inhaler. I don't have asthma, but when my allergies get really bad I need a couple of puffs off of an inhaler. It really helps get things under control. While there get an rx for Flonase and depending how bad, prednisone too. And don't double up on the products with D (sudafed) or you will regret it.

Local steroids. Seriously.

My doctor husband prefers giving local steroids that only target the affected area. Steroid nasal spray. Steroid eye drops, etc. Even for our young children. I have suffered from serious allergies all my life and take a combination of steroid eye drops, steroid nasal spray and/or Zyrtec.

An antihistamine like Zyrtec will work well to stop your allergic symptoms (better than Claritin or Allegra usually) but will induce drowsiness in most people. Be careful driving, etc. The problem is that it is a general medication, affecting the whole body.

Check with your doctor about that cough, to see if you need asthma medication as well.

I'm getting bad allergies in the middle of the night. What gives? I've never had allergies hit in the middle of the night until I moved to the DC area. I'm from CA. I did have allergies in CA, too, but not in the middle of the night.

It's not the pillows. I changed them. The morning seems to be better. It's just in the middle of the night. What gives?

Try something that has the decongestant in it, like Allegra D instead of Allegra. It is the pseudoephedrine that helps.

Also - start taking raw local honey (from a nearby farm) that contains the pollen of local flora and other common allergens. It builds up your immunity.
Pinch of Turmeric in warm milk fights the inflammation.

have you tried a steroid nasal spray? I use a nasal spray in additon to calritin and it has worked wonders

My DD is suffering too.

I have the humidifier cranking, I've taken Mucinex and Claritin-D, I'm extremely well-hydrated, and I am still so miserable. The tickle in my throat and the drainage are keeping me coughing and yacking nonstop. Suggestions welcome. Thanks!
