I have to travel to SE for work. It's really fine during the day as long as you're driving, and I've been able to find street parking very close to where I'm going.

OP here . Only seeking info from anyone who has had a high school student do it (or considered and decided not to). I have researched a great deal already -- logistics, transportation, parking (if drive), several trips, and large variations in neighborhood crime rates within different neighborhoods, but am interested in connecting with other families that have had high school students do this or seriously explored to share info.

You could get mugged in Chevy Chase, on Wisconsin Avenue.

Has any one had a high school driving age (even 18/senior) student do volunteer work /community service in Anacostia? If so, in what part? Did it go smoothly or not? How did the students get back and forth?
