These are my go-to snacks:

Mid-morning: Banana
Before gym: Greek yogurt
After gym: Vega protein recovery shake
Afternoon/before dinner snack(s): apple, carrots, individual sized pack of unsalted almonds

I'll confess that it's the after-dinner snacking that's my downfall (trail mix! Cookies! Chocolate chips!). I've tried (with limited success) to move to decaf green tea or mint tea, and I'll probably move to fancy sparkling water mixed with a little OJ now that the weather is getting warmer.

If you snack because you are hungry, grab some almonds, hb eggs, protein bar. If you snack because you are bored, make some popcorn. It makes a lot, low in calories (air popped), and will keep your hands busy for a while. I am a nighttime snacker, so this works for me.

Yes, and every time you want to have sex, take a cold shower and watch Little House on the Prairie. You really should be running the world.

Oops. I meant 21:26. A general mix of fruit/veggie/protein.

I keep oranges, apples and bananas in bowls as a centerpiece on the dining room table. When I'm tempted to snack, I drink some water then grab a piece of fruit. If I'm still hungry after that, I try something else.

It helps with the kids, too. If they're hungry after school, I always remember to give them a fruit serving first.

No, no. Snacking is healthy and eating frequently boosts your metabolism, assuming you do it in a healthy way. Nuts, a couple cubes of cheese and a fruit, a bit of natural nut butter and an apple, hummus and carrots, spread something healthy on a rice cake, unsweetened yogurt and low sugar granola...

I also love sugar snap peas too! I also bring celery sticks and munch on those. In the morning I usually have a banana and a small handful of walnuts. Afternoons I usually have a Chobani yogurt with some ground flaxseed.

If so, would love to know what you grab. What used to be okay for me in the past is no longer okay, calorie-wise. As I've gotten older it's beginning to show on the scale. What are some healthy or lower calorie snacks you pick on?
