Oyamel is great for kids, provided that the kids are relatively adventurous eaters.

My DD loves the fries with mole on them, and the queso fundito. There also used to be something that involved black beans and plantains that she liked, but it's been a while since we've been there so I don't know if it's still around.

A very adventurous older child might get a kick out of a grasshopper taco!

I find it easier to find stuff on the menu for my kid at Jaleo than Oyamel, but definitely YMMV.

Yes very similar, both small plates...owned and operated by the same chef, Jose Andres.

Oyamel has a more Mexican feel to it (guacamole, margaritas, etc.) while Jaleo has more Spanish influence.

For kids, the Oyamel in Chinatown is super colorful, ornate and fun. If they loved Jaleo I'd say Oyamel is a slam dunk.

Can't recall if they have a kids menu (kind of doubt it) but I'm sure they could cook up some kind friendly items like quesadilla, beans, rice, etc.

They were super accomodating to my Celiac wife with the Gluten Free stuff, so I'm sure they could whip something up.

The kids will enjoy the colorful, vivacious atmosphere.

I don't think so- but their regular menu is fantastic- it would be hard not to find anything. Have you called Oyamel?

Do they have a kids' menu?
