We got prepared meal items from the grocery store. If the weather cooperated, we ate outside on the patio table.

If you are thinking - hey this is a stressful time and I want things to be really easy:

Pasta salad - you can make ahead in take to go if you need to

Chicken nuggets (bake cookies after the nuggets come out)

Grill

Breakfast for dinner - pancakes with fruit!

Bake a batch of cookies every morning - just use the slice and bake kind. Your house will smell great and homey all day.

I've read no broccoli, cabbage, etc.; no seafood; and no strong spices.

Not seafood would be my suggestion. Scent really lingers.

I don't know. If I were in this position I might skip meal prep that required 4-5 vegetables, 2 cutting boards, and a full load in the dishwasher for every meal. I might stick with one-pot meals and frozen pizzas.

Our realtor told us to eat cereal (hot or cold), yogurt, and fruit that doesn't require cutting and to use disposable bowls and utensils.

Obviously, I'm kidding. You don't need to alter your eating habits just because your house is listed. Geez.

Maybe do a lot of prep cooking and freeze meals so you can just warm something that won't be ruined if you have to push dinner back 15 minutes. Pasta bakes (lasagne, ziti, stuffed shells). No offensive smells and relatively little mess during the cooking process.

Nothing with strong odors? Usually your realtor will give a window for showings that will end around or before dinnertime. I don't think you have to worry about this too much.

House going on market and keeping it clean for showings is going to be a challenge, especially the kitchen. Other than spending tons of money eating out, ideas for how to feed my family withou making too much of a mess during this stressful time?
