The job does say they want someone proficient in using Microsoft Office products. Since it's some database work, I assume Excel/Access will be used. I've used Word, Powerpoint and Outlook extensively but not Excel or Access. I looked and there is an 8 hour Access class being offered at a community college that I could take before the job would start. I would bring this up at the interview if needed...that is IF I get an interview....

Well... I completed the application and sent in my resume. At this point I don't know if I'm overqualified or overqualified.

The qualifications are an AA degree and a few years in an office setting to do office paperwork and database management. I have a Master's in Education, 5 years classroom experience and 1.5 years at an education company. I haven't WOH in 12 years but I have been a Board member of a non-profit for 6 years and have done PTSA stuff. My youngest has been in school FT for a few years years and I'm ready to go back to work but I don't want to teach. I just want a part time job and the hours are perfect and the work/environment seems enjoyable.

Should say: I don't know if I'm overqualified or UNDER qualified.

I've had to do this twice. Once for a cruise 2 weeks after I started, and once for a wedding that I was the best lady for and had to be gone for a week right after I started. They'll understand.

I am a former teacher and currently a SAHM. I want to apply for a part time office position within a school. The job posting has a start day of July 1st. We already have plane tickets to fly across the county to visit family for 2 weeks at the end of July. I can work for three weeks before leaving for two. I will have internet and can work some while on our trip.
Should I even bother to apply? Are hiring people understanding that summer plans have already been made and will be flexible?
