Last year we got them in late June.

They have eliminated Raven and replaced with InView. My older child took both because they were phasing in InView and there was a period of overlap. But this year's second graders only took InView. Is it correct that we will receive the scores after school lets out for the year?

FYI - last year my 2nd grader did not take the Raven, only InView.

Read up here -

AND if you are new schedule an appointment with the school counselor for more info. I did that and it was immensely useful. There are many other opportunities that may not be very evident.

Raven is given in 2nd grade but it is not the GT test. Supposedly the GT center test is something made specifically for MCPS to show differences at the high end of the curve...but it is likely based on another test. Have no idea what it was.

Isn't it Raven's matrices which is a lot like NNAT?

They won't tell you the kind of test it is. But from what my child described it seems similar to the CoGAT or NNAT.

Don't know what test specifically, but people apply in fall of 3rd grade and the kids are tested in January of 3rd grade for the highly gifted centers (4th and 5th grades).

Hello. I moved here from other states, so I am new to this area. In Montgomery County, what kind of tests do students take to be admitted to the gifted centers? Thank you.
