Yup, just saw it again. It's persistent!

I just found it again on general parenting, right hand side. I decided to do an experiment so I moved my mouse over it and yes, it expanded (even had a bar that said "expanding") and then it played in the center of my screen with sound and video.

OP here. Thank you. Especially to the others who described the ad better than I did.

Mine was definitely a different ad. It was dark, not pink.

I'm looking at the one I got right now, on the top of this screen. It's got a picture of the juicer on one side, a girl covering her mom's eyes on the other, and a pinkish thought "bubble" in the middle saying "what moms really want? Make her happy this mother's day / click what's on her mind". I'm guessing the video is not supposed to activate unless you click. I'm pretty sure I never clicked on it.

I blocked exactly that ad.

According to our Google stats, no expandable ads are being served. So, whatever is happening should not be happening. I found pink Mother's Day ads for Kuvings juicers. I blocked all of them, though I suspect they weren't the culprit. Please let me know if this issue continues.

I wasn't paying attention to which ads did it, but I had it happen today, too!

When we had the problem with iPhones being redirected to the Appstore, Google said that someone was violating their terms of use. However, Google couldn't figure out who it was and stop them. I finally found a way to block it on my own. This may be something similar. I'll be on the lookout. Can you explain more what the ad looks like?

Ugh, please no. I hate those ads. I just got the juicer one too. The audio kept going even after I closed the "pop-up" screen (it didn't seem like it was a roll-over, but I couldn't really tell what caused it to show up). Incredibly annoying. That kind of thing would definitely detract from my DCUM usage - and I'm a long-time, frequent user.

Post 05/05/2014 13:34     Subject: Re:Ad crossing the line or user error?

We are not running any pop-up ads. We have authorized Google to run what is called "expandable" ads that expand when you mouse over them. However, I haven't seen any of those ads and am not aware of any running yet. If expandables do start running and negatively impact our users' experience, we will quit using them. But, I thought it was worth testing. But, again, I am not aware of any actually running.

So, I can't actually answer your question. If it was a true pop-up, it is not something we want to be running here and will try to stop it. If it is an expandable, I'll wait for more input. But, I probably won't be able to know which of those it was unless and until others share similar experiences.

I had an add pop up in the main view window when I was scrolling. Did it self-pop, or did I somehow engage it while scrolling. If it self-pops-up, I strongly urge you to remove it and those like it..it was for a juicer...can't remember the name. If it was user error...well...there's nothing we can do about that.

Thanks for considering.
