She wouldn't have had to. She could say - can't tonight, sorry, running late. I'll show you the dress or picture though later this week.

Our neighbors came to see us off when we went to prom. So if you're close, why not ask?
I don't see what the biggie is ?....just bluntly ask to take pics .piece of cake
But why pictures? Why can't they just visit briefly so the kids can see the neighbor dressed up and get some of the fun and excitement.

I think the photo aspect makes it weird, even if the girl herself doesn't mind (which, I realize would negate my opinion 100%).

I don't see why you want pictures of the neighbor with your kids just because she'll be dressed up. You said she's close with the kids but that doesn't really explain it.

Are you going to print the picture and display it in your home? Post is on FB? Just keep it on the computer? Can you just go over and say "have fun" as she's heading out to be friendly?

It comes off as odd to me.

See if you can stop by their house but don't ask her to come to yours. Go while the parents are already taking pics so that you don't create more things for them to do.

Are you a dad or mom?

She'd be flattered, call the mom and ask if she's getting ready at her house (as it might be a 3 rd party location).

I would just text and say congrats and have a good night. If you have a minute stop by as the kids would love to see you all dressed up.

She's going to be busy enough taking care of herself and it's also a time for her parents to make a big deal out of her.

If you are very close with the family, I would say yes. Otherwise it could be very AWKWARD.

That's sweet. Text and ask, emphasizing that you understand if she doesn't have the time. And tell her that either way, you hope she has a great time.

Our HS next door neighbor is going to the prom tonight and I'm sure will look absolutely stunning! We have known her since we moved in ten years ago and she is like a big sister to my kids, and I would love to get some pictures of them together before she heads of to the prom. Would that be offensive or weird? How do I ask?
