Camellia got hit hard but will survive. Lost all the old growth on the hydrangeas so they're sending out new shoots (the ones that bloom on new grow seem to be unaffected). Rosemary did okay as did the fig tree.

Lost my rosemary, laurel, lavender and most of my salvias. The rest are coming up OK.

Rosemary, bay, a few roses. The lower branches of our miniature Japanese maple are dead on the street side, and I wonder if all the salt treatments had something to do with it. It's been a very healthy tree with no die-off in the past.

If it's budding, that's good news.

One fig is sprouting from the roots. I don't know about the other one yet.

Yes, some animal burrowed and ate into the asparagus plot we made two years ago (this was to be our first year with a bit of home grown asparagus). Only 4 spears have survived. We planted 32 two year old roots and the past two years have seen much growth, but we did not harvest to make them strong. grrrr. Our small fig did not survive and I regret not bringing it inside the house.

Rosemary and lavender went. Hydrangea and second lavender seem to have made it, as did some pansies.

Lost rosemary, gardenia, and mini cypress bushes. All were covered in burlap and mulched. Just too brutal this winter I guess.

Do you know what type of hydrangea you have? Some always grow on "old wood" (sprouts at end of what appears to be dead sticks) - other types of hydrangea do exactly as you are describing. I have both. When it becomes very clear which hydrangea is producing from old wood and which from new, I cut back all the dear sticks on the "new" plant. Soe gardeners marks theirs before they die off, whic I forget to do because I have so many. I'll probably wait another week or two and then it will be clear.

My 5 year old climbing roses bit the dust - no signs of green. My endless summer hydrangeas lost all their old wood buds in the frost a couple of weeks ago. I'm in a bit of mourning for them because they are my absolute summer favorites!

My climbing roses suffered, but there is sign of life near the base. Lost the rhubarb and grapes.
